Mirja Wellmann

Lives and works in Mehrstetten

Biography

Simultaneously an observer and creator, the sculptor documents her and our acoustic environment. Wellmann records the auditory landscapes that surround her and translates them into a visual and spatial plane by means of her ‘listening nests’. In this way, she invites the viewers of her interwoven works to empathise with her experience on the one hand, and on the other hand to allow their own perception of the complex network of acoustic stimuli that constantly surrounds us to take on greater depth.
