Biography
The second glance plays a central role in Marlis Spielmann’s work. The Zurich-based artist uses ultra-thin parchment paper to create meticulously detailed works that could not be further away from the stereotypical Swiss silhouette. In her paper cuts, Spielmann plays with these very stereotypes and shows us how quickly expectations can lead us up the garden path.
