Distorsione Distorsione

22.06.–07.09. 2024

Ausstellung

Our summer exhibition is all about distortion. While the term is usually associated with a slightly negative connotation, the phenomenon harbours a wealth of creative momentum. Four artists explore what distortion means, what it obviously changes but also what it creates. From the purely physical level, where energy influences a body, to the distortion of information on its way from the source to the recipient, to distortion as a defining instance. Between macroscopic material changes and microscopic pigment games, we show works that are dedicated to this theme.

Impressions

Artists

Oskar Zięta elegantly fuses what seems to be incompatible: elegance with brutality, reflection with transparency, chance with control, and certainly not least metal with air.

Continuing a tradition initiated by the Cubists around Picasso, Gilles van Schuylenbergh uses a combination of media from the camera to the canvas to expand and question our understanding of perspective.

The minimalist yet complex compositions of Dirk Salz invite viewers to reflect on the changing perception of space and depth through an interplay of light, colour and reflection.

Andrea Valsecchi’s “Marble Bags” pay tribute to the grandmasterly craftsmanship of a completely different design discipline and materiality: haute couture.
