About the Programme

The CCAA Residency Programme offers emerging talents a supportive environment in which to explore their creativity and develop their artistic practice. Participants are encouraged to push boundaries and realise their artistic vision while benefiting from the Centro’s network, receiving support in developing their self-presentation and, of course, in developing exhibition concepts.

How it works

As an applying artist you develop a concept for the residency and submit it to fiete@ccaa.ch together with a brief cv and a portfolio of your body of work.
Beyond the artistic approach, this concept should include the timing (most stays range between 2 and 4 months) and we’d appreciate it if you to elaborate on what kind of role the location of the residency plays for your project.
We assess the application in terms of feasibility, fit for the gallery and timing.
We get back to you either way – should it be a match, we set up a video call to discuss further details.
Once arrived at the residency location, you’ll meet one member of our team and discover the site together with them.
During your stay we are always at your disposal and will visit you, in order to assist you shaping the project with knowledge from the gallerists’ perspective.
After your stay, we exhibit your work at our gallery in Ascona for a predefined time.

Flims, Grisons

The old post office

With the old post office in Flims, the CCAA is proud to have a satellite in the Grisons region. Just a stone’s throw from the Rhine Gorge with its swaying forests on one side and the Sardona Tectonic Arena, a World Heritage Site, on the other, the mountain village is predestined to find inspiration in nature. It is not only the unique location of the residence that stimulates creativity in a special way, but also the building itself: with the living area in the former garage, the studio in the former packing room and a showroom where people queued at counters until a few years ago, the old post office right next to Lake Cauma is a very special place.

Furkapass, Uri / Valais

The Refugio

Our historic building stands above the Furkareuss, its deliberately rustic character creating an authentic connection to the alpine surroundings. The natural simplicity of the location offers artists a special space where they can work free from distractions and in harmony with the mountain world. Surrounded by majestic peaks, fragrant alpine meadows and the clear light of the mountains, a special creative energy unfolds here. The original wood and stone architecture becomes an inspiring part of the artistic experience, while the seclusion allows for deep concentration. The Refugio is currently being worked on and will open in late 2026.

Ponte Brolla, Ticino

Il Magazzino

The Magazzino in Ponte Brolla (opening in 2027) is located at the entrance to the Maggia Valley and Centovalli in a historic quarry stone building. The CCAA is developing a site dedicated to creativity here: raising the roof creates high gallery spaces for large-format artistic work and a surrounding band of windows for optimal daylight. Several simultaneous residency programmes will enable interdisciplinary exchange between artists. In addition to the residency spaces, the Magazzino will house an exhibition space, a zero-waste restaurant and a bed & breakfast.
